Question Double roller timing chains

What type of double roller is everyone using? Were there clearance issues when installing?Im looking at using a double roller for my new motor but dont want to have to mess with alot of clearance issues unless it is easliy fixable. Do I need a double?F-13 cam, AFR 205's, LS6 intake, kooks long tubes...??The kooks is debateable yet, any other suggestions is apprciated on that too, but timing chain first!!

Rollmaster here. Headers? If I were in the market for headers today, I'd go with QTP or Kooks.

I have a double roller Rollmaster timing chain as well, it worked great for me especially since I had more play in my stock timing chain than Michael Jackson on a playground! I did have to have my ASP pulley milled a little bit though. I was told you don't have to do this if you have a stock pulley but with most aftermarket underdrive pulley's you will have to have them shaved/milled slightly

actually it was just the non-sfi pulley that needs to be machined, IIRC.

and yea...rollermaster is good. or, if you're not going to be running a huge cam, you can get the new ls2 timing chain as its quite beefy itself, and only ~$30.

If I run stock pulley(im going to clean up and paint) I wont have clearance issues?I thought aobut underdrives but dont want to hurt my alternator at all. Timing chain cover fit fine too?

If you don't want to deal with clearence issures of a double roller, then why buy one? They are overkill even on a big cam.

there isn't really any clearence issues that I had. You can't use a stock pulley with the double roller unless its milled down. It won't seat all the way b/c your oil pump is spaced out a little bit.

I went with the SLP double roller timing chain (which said roll master on the cam sprocket) so I wouldn't have any clearance issues with the SLP underdrive pully that I have.

Not huge. I have a rollmaster double. If the LS2 timing chain option had been out there (and i aware of it) at the time of my swap I might have done that instead. Oh well, it may be overkill but it's not going to hurt anything and it's not like it's a BIG money issue either. We're probably still talking <$100 total expenditure here.

hmmm...rollmaster double roller here, but I never had any clearance issues with my stock pulley. goes on fine and ran great for 30k. I agree that the double roller is an overkill and most applications the ls2 chain is the best bang for the buck.

SLP slaps their name on everything they sell.

It's a Rollmaster. SLP just charges more for it.

I'm running an over-priced JWIS single roller timing chain. If the LS2 chain had been available at the time, I would have gotten it.

When is a double roller needed?I think I might get one anyway just to beef it up, but when is "the point" that you would need those? What is so graet about the LS2 chain? Is there anything special about it?Is it a roller chain?
