Question When changing valve springs?

Hey guys, I just ordered TSP's Magic Stick and figured that I should go ahead and change my springs since I have put about 10,000 miles on them with my 231/237 cam and my question is when I change them should I or do I need to change out my Titanium Retainers, along with the seals, locks, etc. For new one's or is it ok to leave them in and just change the springs? Thanks.

Agreed the only parts that would wear in that 10k would be the seals Don't sweat it.

Spring change alone is fine.

What springs are they? You really wouldn't need to change them after 10k, they should be halfway through their life at the absolute most. The 231/237 isn't all that hard on springs for a "large" cam because of it's soft lobes.

Of course, if you want to change them while you are in there and start fresh with the new cam, go for it. If you are changing them b/c your old springs aren't rated to go over .600 lift that is a good reason too...unless they are comp 918's, in which case they can handle it perfectly well.

They are the Patriot Gold dual valve springs. I know that I probably have a lot left on them but I want to start off fresh with the new cam. Thanks guys for the advice.

I have heard about springs developing a memory, although i dont know how much to believe. If its true, they will not like seeing a different cam after theyve already been used with the old one.

Just out of curiosity, if a gold kit usually retails for 260-280, how much is it for just the springs themselves and new seals?
