Default vinci/crane LSx shaft mount rocker spy photos

while i was vinci today, i had the opportunity to sneak some pics of the developmental vinci/crane shaft mount rockers. from what i can tell, these rocekrs mount 2 per stand and are held down by three bolts. the stand is bolted to the head. then the shaft rockers are bolted to the stand. some major modification to the heads will be needed. these rockers, once available, will come in ranges from 1.7:1 to 2.0:1 ratios. these are for real high end racers. they are also fabricating a 1" valve cover spacer as well. vinci has fitted them to a set of AFR 205 heads to go on their PROJECT C6 car. so, here's the pics and enjoy!!!

Now those are some serious shaft-mounted roller rockers!

They will be super quiet because there are no needle bearings. They use the new polymer matrix composite bearings that are used in Crane's new line of shaft mount rockers. The bearings have pressurized oil fed through the pushrod, the pushrod seat and an internal oil passage in the rocker body. Quick-lift geometry is even more aggressive than the Gold Race Rockers. These will require head machining, but they will provide the ultimate in rocker geometry for LSx family.

Any basic pricing$ on the rockers and spacer? The cost wold most likely be out of reach for most enthusiasts- even serious ones.

Set-up looks robust, but also very heavy. Any ideas as to how much the rockers weigh in comparison to stock? Remember, weight is the enemy.

So someone has definitively determined why the LSx valvetrain is so loud when high ramp rate cams are introduced?

Are you sure? ;-)

Why can't they design some that will fit under the covers??

They look nice BTW, but will be very expansive. I estimate at least $$1200 by the time you get the cover adapter and longer wires or relo kit.

With respect to price, I am not in sales, but I would expect these rockers to be sold with .080" wall pushrods of the proper length for well under $1000.

As far as producing a shaft mount rocker (as opposed to a pedestal mount that is erroneously termed "shaft-mount"), that will fit under the stock valve covers, it is simply a matter of not enough space for proper geometry, oscillation, and strength from material section thickness to accomplish it. We could make a rocker that would fit, but the opening and closing geometry wouldn't be so poor that power output would be compromised. Also, strength and durability would be limited.

These new shaft mounts will open and close the valves even quicker than our gold race rockers, but they are not going to be for everyone. They absolutely will require machining of the cylinder head for proper installation. Therefore, we expect that they will be used only by those enthusiasts seeking the absolute maximum from their engine.

With respect to noise from very fast ramp rates, our tests have shown this relates to cam lobe finish and how the lifter returns to the basecircle. Quick ramp rates do not have to be noisy!!

Sign me up for a quiet VT. Damn, those rockers look very nice. I dont see the quieries about maching the heads, I would think that if it were possible to get the end result these rockers are suggesting, w/o requiring machining, they would have went that route. The necessary machining is not intended to segregate the high dollar racers from the enthusiasts, its merely needed to allow for clearance. When are you looking at releasing these beauties?

These look like a solid design. Too bad they have to be hidden under valve covers...

Any information on power gain differences between 1.7, 1.85 and 2.0 ratios?

Very nice looking. I'd like to see if they float.
