Default Do I need to clay #1 or will I be fine?

I have a set of 5.3 heads with 64cc chambers and 2.02 1.55 valves....the heads have only been milled .010" to clean them up. I will be using 98-01 GM graphite gaskets (.054")...the rest of the engine is stock.

Do I need to check PTV clearance? I dont have any solid lifters to use...

Cam is a 224/224 .588"/.588" 112....ICL is 108°.

Anyone wanna chime in? My guess is the valves aren't even close to hitting since I used a cam with this much lift on stock heads before with no problems.

Also, what length pushrods do you think I would need? Do 5.3 engines come with 7.4" pushrods? I know all about checking the preload etc...

??? Thanks!

exactly.....nobody knows.......you might miss by a mile or you might crash the valve into the piston..........this is why you ALWAYS should clay.....

now I will say you SHOULD clear as I used a TR224/224 112LSA with 2.08/1.60 valve 5.7L heads milled 0.050" and had about 0.150"......BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if your car were MY car....it would get clay...

you can take an old stock lifter and have someone weld the little plunger (just a few good tacks) to prevent it from being pushed down.......OR...you can take a stock lifter apart and either flip the plunger upside down OR fill it with JB Weld......

Shouldn't...I was using a very similar cam (224/.581/112) and had over .140 clearance on the intake and more on the exhaust valve
