You broke the sending unit. Go pick up a new one at your local dealer. It goes on the drivers side of the engine behind the intake.

It is safe to drive, the gage will read 0 oil pressure, it is something you can do yourself if you changed the intake your self. It is a 20 dollar part and a 15 minute repair.

You can drive with it unhooked/broke,but I wouldnt do it for long! You never know when you might not really have any pressure.

Look at it this way it worked fine before you replaced the manifold, oil prs that is. I would at least start the engine and make sure you did not brake it off to the point you have a oil leak. And if not and you need to drive it, to get a new part ect go for it. I would not plan on driving it along time with no way to watch the oil prs.

Yeha and you need a special socket to replace the part. You can get it at O'riely Auot Parts. I Love Chevy. It is called "oil pressure sending unit socket". you cant miss it.

I took a mirror to the back of my intake and looks like you guys were correct. Something is bent over sideways the bottom part is a copper like color looks like what used to stick up and down is now bent over sideways and broke in 2.

Those sensors are so easy to break. We keep a few handy just in case.

i think all you need is a deep 11/16 socket to get it off.

Here ya go...It's the black thing in the back with the green top.

Now you will need a special socket from autozone. It is like $5 and it says it's an oil sending unit socket.

I broke my sender just like you, installing an intake manifold. It sticks up at the rear of the valley, and nestles in a hollow at the back of the manifold. If you don't get everything centered just right you can snap the sender off its base. When this happens, you (obviously) lose oil pressure reading but there is no oil leak, no SES light and oil pressure is fine.

The part is $50 from a local chevy dealer, $25 online.

Not to hijack the thread, but...

I have a similar situation, changed the intake and my pressure gauge is pegged! over 100 PSI... Anyone ever seen this before? I was thinking a grounded out wire somewhere?

You are correct..
Not sure on the operation of the pressure sender but you either cut a wire or pinched one to ground.
