Default 5.7 vs. 6.0l crankshaft?????

i got a 2000 trans am with bad motor, then i got a 2000 6.0l truck engine to swap over. I have swaped heads, oil pan, complete intake system and all front acc. When i try to bolt up the motor to trans(auto) there is a gap between the motor and trans in about 1 inch. It seem like the 6.0l crankshaft is longer than the aluminum one. Anyone out there know how that i can go around this problem?????????????????????????

you need an ls1/ls6, or a newer 6.0 crank shaft. The early model 6.0 cranks were different. I think they were designed to mate up to the 4l80e trans. I've got a spare ls6 crank i could part with if your interested.

there are different cranks. the main difference on some of the cranks is on the 6.0 crank the rear where the flexplate would bolt to is about an inch or so thicker (never measured to be exact). also the cranks out of the trucks are not gun drilled but that is only about 1 pound of metal so not to big of a deal. mainly just look for the casting number of the crank. the truck crank that will not work in a LS1/2/6/7 has the last 4 digits of 2165 and the one that you can use is 2166 whether it is gun drilled or not.

99-00 6.0s came with cast iron heads, the crank flange on the early 6.0s are about 1/2 longer than the Lsx and 01 up 6.0s
