WTF!! i have shipped motors all over before and it has never been more than 150 bux... why in the world would it cost that much??? utah-texas is like a tiny trip.... guy i know in new jersey just had one shipped out from the same company at the high gas prices and it was only like 300 bux to new jersey.. so why would it be that much to deliver one to utah???

thats about how much it should cost to ship an engine up here in alaska. but a shop quoted 950 to ship an ls1 here. i think they are just trying to make a quick buck off your nieveness.

If it is a long block, their price is in line. It cost me $918 to ship a loaded long block from Conneticut to Louisiana. After I bitched and told them they could send it back, they gave me a 40% discount, which was still more than I wanted to pay. Usaully most vendors have a certain shipper that they have an account with. In most cases, these people get the 40% discount. If they aren't in with a shipping company, they pass the horrible charges directly to you.

I would say the cheapest is most likely thru Shippi.com. They can give you packing tips. You can call them or quote and book online.
