best lifters and rockers?
The car has comp r lifters, and stock rockers in it now. but after last week at track i think the lifters are a problem. car gets up outta the hole like its gonna do somethin then it just levels off. i have heard of several having valve float with these lifters. cam is a upper 230s,low 240s duration, with 58*,60* lift. but when motor is out to change lifters gonna check piston to valve and c if i cant twist it to 7000. what rockers and lifters are needed. also plan to spray around 250 after get motor all lined out.
Thanks
Thanks

There have been numerous threads concerning problems with the Comp R lifters coming apart and sending metal thru the engine (don't know if it was due to error in preload or part design flaw, but didn't want to take the chance) - for that reason I went with the standard Comp lifters. Using them with Harland Sharp Rockers and have had no problems whatsoever with my current setup putting down the rwhp/rwtq numbers in my sig.
My new setup will go with AFR heads, Comp Xer Cam, same lifters & rockers & should get me into the upper 400 numbers in both rwhp & rwtq NA. The Morel lifters are supposedly the best but very expensive - I've had good performance with the standard Comps so I'll stick with them. There are quite a few cars running in the 9's that are using these same lifters with no problems - since my car is mainly street driven - they will be good enough for my uses...

yes i daily drive my car as well. so the comp OEM replacement lifters? the main reason i wanna change lifters besides the performance is that when cold they make this weird noise then after i drive and let it idle for a while it makes same weird noise. but oh well guess this sunday will tell the tale. gonna go turn knock sensors off for a couple passes and just make sure the 2 degrees of retard i have is not whats killing my car. so comp OEM or morel lifters? what about stock lifters? there are several around her running stock lifters. any of you fast guys running them?
ok now what rockers-sharp,jesel, or morel?
all comments are appreciated sry its so long guys

I think Morel only makes lifters...and from builders I know they make more power with better valvetrain stability...reducing problems...
If im spending your money...go with Jesel shaft mount...

What's the logic behind saying the "R"a come apart, but the OEMs will hold up? I don't see it considering that Comp makes both of them and the "R"s are the upgraded version. Don't believe it when you read that Comp "R"s need to be used with shaft mounts. I have a set of "R"s that have many Ks of mileage on them all the while being actuated by Comp Pro Mags (not shaft mounts) Don't leave Comp Pro Mags off of your rocker list. They not cheap (shaft mounts cost more), but they are high quality and very reliable. Sure shaft mounts have better working geometry than the Pro Mags and don't require the useage or guide plates or hardened pushrods, but the setup using the Pro Mags with the "R"s is straightforward and once you put the rocker covers back on you won't have to pull them back off for a VERY long time. That's worth somethingf if it's a daiily drive.

You guys need to call the manufacturers to get the specs...for your set up...Morel, Jesel or Comp tech lines.
I run Comp Pro Mag rockers too and there is no comparison to stock.
