Default Rwhp #'s On 408

I just came across a 408 with CNC'd AFR 225's (pt# 1360) 42# inj., ported LS6 intake(yeah I said ported!) and a custom cam of which I dont know the specs on yet. The guy I got the engine from needed a stock LS1 to put back in his car to sell it so he traded me even for the stock motor out of my TA as long as I did the work(which is done of course!). Anyway the motor felt like a freakin MONSTER in his car,(auto,NO converter, manifolds with cats)felt faster than my TA on BOTH systems!. My TA has a 2400 stall. FULL exhaust(long tubes >3 1/2" Borla) so it should pick up a little from his car. I'm going to have the car tuned next week before I drive it. What are some projected HP #'s(sorry no info on the cam, sounds like a pretty good size though)Thanks

I found out some more info. the cam is a FutraL 246/250 on a 112 with 612/622 lift. The previous owner CLAIMS he has dyno sheets of 540RWHP(seems kinda high to me), we'll see in a couple of days...

that would be Futral they are a sponsor for the site.

I had a futral 246/250 .642 110+4 in my 408 with ported LS1 heads and 1 7/8 longtubes with open headers and it made 550rwhp and 515rwtq.

that is a HELL of a deal. you got about a $8k motor (depending on part quality) for a swap out plus stock LS1

well, for starters....that is the craziest trade i have even heard...period!!!!

Secondly, and im not hating...but i doubt he got 540rwhp through an a4 unless it was a 3spd th350 or something like. Through a manual trans, yes....but not an auto 4L.

with your setup, you should be close to 470-490rwhp...given or take a few. Either way, its one hell of a swap and you should be very happy!!

good luck!!

if your through an a4, id assume youd be around 480 rwhp give or take with an ls6 intake(ported) as opposed to a 90mm intake/tb.

Futral did my motor/turbo setup, so you should be proud to own that setup.

Thanks guys. Yeah I still cant believe the guy traded me. I own a small speed shop here in Columbia so the deal kinda fell into my hands. You can believe we had the engine hoist hooked up before you could say stroked LS1 ! I'm gonna dyno tune the car Monday at CPR across town (my best friend and NMRA drag radial champion Chris Tuten runs the dyno) so hopefully it does well. If it makes what I've been seeing here I'll be more than happy. I pulled the oil pan and it has a Callies crank, Eagle rods,Diamond pistons, and it all looks brand new(supposed to have less than 2k miles on it). Thanks for all the info. I'll keep you posted on #'s

Holy Sh*t man That's a $7k engine. You got one hell of a deal (assuming it don't break ). I dyno'ed 425/445 with stock LQ9 heads, LS6 intake, ported TB, 42#'ers, 1 7/8 stepped LT's, ORY, and catback. 500 rwhp will be a joke for you. I would expect somewhere around 530's-540.
