5.3, smaller cc chamber, helps increase compression, castings are plentiful and cheap to sell without exchange.
5.7, can be milled for smaller chamber, around .030 puts you at 62cc. You generally see fewer 5.7 castings used on heads/cam setups than 5.3's.
6.0, truck heads which have similar port design to ls6 heads. Chambers are welded up to reduce compression (59cc available) and you have good piston to valve clearance. These are your "ls6 style" heads.

Also, 243 casting are LS6 and LS2 heads. Getting rather plentiful these days.

Stages; every porter has their own criteria.

I'm partial to Stage 1.5 5.3L heads from TEA.
Predator is having much success with the 5.3L PRC Stage 2.5's

For a hell of a deal on LS6 heads, see
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ight=livernois

For a cam with lower lift (say, .560), TEA Stage 1 5.7L heads are the way to go because they offer great mid lift numbers.

And, if you want heads that are simply outperforming all others, ET Performance 215's and 225's are worth a look. Pair those with a decent duration cam and some high lift.

whats got the most bang for buck on all those heads? i usually drive over 80 miles a day when i drive this car in the summer, so i dont wanna eat all the gas in my tank in one day, even though i can afford it. then i need an exact cam, i have no experience in cams. no idea what numbers and lifts and durations mean. so need the perfect cam w/ the best head for my buck.

If you have no idea, either read JRP's cam sticky at the top of this forum, or just call Gunnar and have him match you a heads and cam package.

I just replaced a set of WCCH stage 2 5.3 heads with a set of PRC 2.5 R's. Added ported FAST LSX and LS2 TB at the same time and picked up 30-35 RWHP. I very happy with the PRC's.
