Default Good Cam/stall combo for DD car

I have decided my next mod will be a convertor probably 3200-3500 stall,
and a cam, but don't know which cam to get
the car right now puts down 330rwhp/340rwtq with lts and true duals,
so I need to find a combo that won't
totally kill my MPG, and will be fun on the street,
pat

How about a 224/228 581/588 114LSA and a 3500 stall.

Go with the F13 and 3500 stall. But I am a little biased on the cam

How much exactly does it cost to replace a cam if a shop was to do it? any ideas?

Depends on where you live. I would say most places would go by the book for what a GM dealership would charge hourly.

z28/2002,

what kind of wheel HP numbers are expected out of your cam,
and how do you like the 3000 stall?
is it OK for street driving? I mean is it killing your MPG,

pat?

I have had a vig 3200 before and it was a little much for me anyway, but then had tranny problems and had it redone to a vig2800. I like this converter alot more than the 3200 plus it stalls up to like 3200. I have a very mild cam by todays specs 216/220 .522 .522 and still get 15-20 miles to the gallon. I do drive it everyday.

why was the 3200 too much for you? and
how do you like the car with the cam now?
what kind of power is it putting down?

thanks

Yank SS3600 with a TR224 or, if you feel like going with a middle sized cam, TR230/G5X2/233-239, etc...

Or an G5X4 and 4k.

I like to stay on the quiet side and with mac headers and high flow cats its already kinda raspy so using more rpms with the 3200 just made it worse. I like the cam alot, attatched is the dyno sheet. It would be nice to go bigger but I figured it seemed like any cam you choose got you 20+ hp so how can you go wrong? Plus I got a heck of a deal from MTI.

Really can't say right now because I am still in Iraq. I should be back next weekend and I have to pick the car up from my uncle's house in Ohio the 1st week of February. It will be driven 500 miles untuned back to NC. I'll be posting dyno numbers and a review in about three weeks. But as far as the RWHP numbers I'd like to see over 380 but I don't have a Ported TB or underdrive pulley so it might be in the 370 range.

shouldnt a lock up converter not affect anything really? it might slip a little at high rpms but why would u be in high rpms for daily driving?

It should slip during low RPM's, not high.

If I had to do it again, I would go bigger than 3500 stall. My car drives and runs fine also.

tr224 and pt4200 . id look into testing a car with a loose converter before you make your choice. its almost certainly not as bad as you think itll be.

That's why I went from 3500 to 4k. 3500 just wasn't enough, esp for the cam once it went in.

I'm gonna have to drive/ride in a car with one of these high stalls (3500 +)
'cause I can't imagine how that combo will do when I go back and from to
Orlando, about a 500 mile trip.

if you are looking at a cam with 220's duration I would say 3200-3500
if you are looking at a cam with 230's duration I would say 3800-4000

i guess what i'm saying is adjust cam and converter with duration and I think it will work out better for you. I have a 220's duration cam with 3200 vigilante and I think a 3800 would better suit me. It locks up in overdrive and if tuned properly it will be good on gas
