Default SLP Pump + Rollmaster = No fit

Im trying to install the front cover on my 5.3L and it wont fit over the pump. Im using an SLP pump and Rollmaster double timing chain. With the spacers in, the cover wont go on, but with the spacers out, the pump will bolt on, but it is way to close to the chain for comfort.. Anyone run into this problem?

slp's combo doesnt require the spacer. there pumps are already build with the spacer. if u look at the 2 pumps u will see that the slp is a little longer.

My double roller did the same thing so it went in unshimmed. I have had it running like that for 3x,xxx miles. seen track time and hard driving too. hope that helps some.

Yea, I did notice the pump was taller, but it was ral close to the chain.. Im just concerned with one of the rivets catching the pump and tearing the pump up or ripping the chain apart..

Yeah, I thought that would have been a problem but after a few cam swaps I still look at it in dismay and wish i had gone with the LS2 chain as well. but it wasnt around 4 years ago.

mine runs very close . (rollmaster and slp pump) I do not have the spacers in . with the balancer and the cam retainer there isn't any way for the chain or gears to move . Don't worry if it starts touching it will probly wear in slowlly!!!!!!!!!!

I used the Rollmaster with the Katech pump and had the same problem with the spacers installed. The cover was hitting the pump were the oil pickup tube bolts to the pump and on the other side, where the Allen head screw threads into the pump. I ground some material off the front of the pump in those two locations at about a 45* angle. I had the tube installed when I did this so I wouldn't grind too much off. The is plenty of material in both of those locations so it's not a problem. Loosely bolt the cover on then rock it back and forth. Remove the cover and look for the shiney spots. (A magic marker will help in this process). Grind the corresponding location on the pump. I wouldn't grind the cover. It's thin.
