TR 224 - oil consumption?
I installed my cam and new valvetrain about 6 weeks ago. about 4 weeks ago I changed the oil and put in Mobil 1. In the past month I've had to add 3 additional quarts. Is it normal to have to add this much oil with an aftermarket cam and valvetrain? And there isn't even a tiny oil leak anywhere on the car. Thanks

No oil consumption here, my old set up was full bolton and the tr224, and current set up in sig. I haven't lost more than a 1/4 quart in either engine between oil changes. Start looking in your rear view for blue smoke or have some one follow you if you have no leaks your burning it.

Did you install new valve seals? Maybe one is not seated very well. Does your car smoke on startup after sitting for a while? Check your PCV valve and make sure it is not dumping oil into your intake.

I'm having the same problem, maybe not quite as bad as three quarts that quickly but still a problem. I just took my manifold off tonight to swap to the LS6 PCV system. Will be putting it back together in the morning and will let you know if that fixes the problem. I think the problem varies from car to car, being some people never have a problem even with heads/cam etc., and some have it with stock cars.

Sounds like valve seals. Were they replaced when you did the cam? If they were more than likely one ore more is not seated properly.

Did the swap last night and finished this morning. Did a fresh oil change and will drive it for a few days and see if it is any better. I will post results of this once I know for certain whether the problem is gone or not.
