Head/cam Swap in Y2K Corvette
Finally pulled the engine in my C5 to begin a head/cam swap. I realize pulling the engine is not necessary but I prefer having the engine out and it gives me a chance to do some cleaning and other mods while it is out. Eventually I plan to create a “how-to” on pulling the engine. Pics of the progress are at: http://www.hodge-rulez.com/. Click on the links on the main page. Don’t expect to see anything fancy… yet. Mainly posted pics on the website for my brother.
The swap consists of:
2003 Z06 heads (“at-home” porting)
OEM valves (the lightweight Z06 valves, not standard LS1)
918 springs
Titanium retainers
Machined valve locks
ZLP 51013 cam (0.576/0.571 lift; 234*/228* duration)
Z06 intake
Z06 oil pump (“at-home” porting)
LS2 timing chain
Z06 PVC valley cover
My goal is to get the engine back in the car and fire it no later than the middle of May. Hope it does not take that long but I work for a living, have other duties, etc. that eat into the fun stuff. This forum has been a great help leading up to this.
