Default Cam Selection ($200 range)

Is there a cam around $200 that puts out a pretty nice sounding lope and will work with stock valvetrain parts?

Only if you find a used one in the for sale forum. Cheapest new cam I've seen is about $280.

Not a new one. You're looking to spend over $300 for a new cam, plus springs. Do as Zick said and look for one in the classifieds section. I've seen a few go for $200 (cam only). Oh, and any cam upgrade will require upgraded valvesprings at the very least.

Sometimes you can find the GM Hotcam here or on ebay for less than $200. I got mine new for $150 off ebay.

As for stock valvetrain parts, I don't know what the stock springs are good till, but the lift on the hotcam is .525 . I would assume you would have to upgrade to at least LS6 springs for this cam, since it does come with the kit.
