Default LS2 Timing Chain Slack OK?

Just installed my new cam, new LS2 timing chain and noticed that there seems to be quite a bit of slack in the chain. Is this normal? Thanks

Maybe your gears are too worn?

how do the teeth look on them?

I just bought an ls2 chain and have never heard of this problem....here we go again ...another issue

The teeth look fine. The car has only 19K miles on it. Not really sure if it is a problem or just normal.

So then it is safe to assume that the slack is normal? Thanks

Measure your slack at its most loose point and give us the figure.

This is without any lifters installed. I kept tension on the cam gear to where there is only slack on one side of the chain. It looks like a little less then a 1/4" maybe 3/16" (hard to tell) of slack.

according to comp cams tech line, 1/4" to 1/2" of play is within specs and is okay. i called about a double roller b/c i thought i had too much slack on mine. but they said its fine.
