Question Valvespring Compressed and Stuck!

I'm having problem with my ls1 in my rx7. The rocker on the intake side on piston 1 broke and dumped needle bearings all over the place. I installed a set of harland sharp 1.7 rockers today. I rotate the engine and see that the rocker on the intake side on piston 1 is not moving at all. The spring is staying in the compressed position; all the other rockers work normally.

Any ideas? I don't want to remove the heads.

You know, I was just thinking...Some of those bearings might have gotten tangled up down there and be jamming something past the lifter or pushrod.

Wouldn't the exhaust side be the one with teh stuck spring then as the oil galley is there by it?

Stranger things have happened. But you are probably right. Hopefully it is a stubborn rocker.

Could the rocker have a clearance issue with the side of the head, I know my heads needed some Dremel action for my Harland Sharps to clear......

When the rocker failed it could have screwed up the geometry enough so that the valve stem got bent.

That would explain the stuck valve.

The only way to tell is to remove the rocker.

There is no way that I can see one of the bearings jamming up the works good enough to hold a valve stuck under spring pressure.

Good luck

It would have to be a monster of a bearing!
Those things look like you might have to massage the valve cover to get it to fit right as well.

I removed the rocker and rotated the engine and the same results; the intake valvespring still staying compressed.

If someone offers my asking price, I'm going to have to sell it.
