Default do you think stock lifters will last this long with MS4

What do you guys think the chances are that the stock lifters(100K mi) will hold up to the MS4. the reason I thinking about this is I plan to put on a set of ported 243's on the motor between thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't drive the car to much maybe 2000 miles by then but probably be close to 1000.I would just rather have to deal with taking the heads off once. just wanted to see if any of you guys thought they would last that long. If they don't no real big deal I would just prefer they make it until the fall, cause I'd really like have the car out some this summer.

I guess a better question would be who has installed a fairly large/fast ramp rate cam in there car and left the stock lifters in. if so how many miles did you have when you did the swap and how many know also what cam.

Well, no one can know how long they will last and the obvious safe bet is to replace them with some Comp OE's or some stockers if you're really worried and only want to go in there once. I'd do it all now and be done with it.

if I had the $$$ for the heads now believe me I would. this is what sucks about being in school(college) still. And yes even if I was doing this as a cam only setup I would replace the lifters but since I plan to tear it apart in a couple months anyways I didn't want to throw away the money on gaskets and bolts twice, I don't really want to spend $$ on studs as after i put the other heads on I hope that will be the last time I inside the motor for a while.

I'm not going to do the lifters on my TRex setup until I do the heads (6months later...hopefully). A lot of people run large lift cams without changing the lifters. I think you should be fine if you only drive it 2-3k miles. I wouldn't want to pull the heads just to do the lifters!

What is everyone opinion on running OE replacement lifters with this cam? Just curious...?

Should be fine. It's comparable to the TRex, and everyone I know running that cam still has stock lifters without a problem. I got the Ms4 and I'll be keeping my stock lifters as well...
I guess we will find out one way or the other.

Exactly. It's not like this engine has 30k on it. It's up to you though, worst case scenario is a lifter collapses, you get a ticking sound and one of your valves doesn't open anymore... and just hope nothing else breaks. That's not exactly a small lift cam which is my only reason for concern. You're gonna be beating on those old lifters pretty hard.

For your information, I'm running the TSP Giant Cam (248-254 .622-.613 on 112LSA) on stock lifters for 4K miles right now and they are good and quiet. A lot of Street driving and strip also with 6600-6700 shift point. They have about 40k miles total life with stock 346 but now i'm 383 stroker (Preload is 0.050 with good rocker geometry).

Personnally, I don't think I would run the stockers with 101k miles in my engine just for insurance. I will probably invest in Morel this winter (Just to make sure) or switch to a solid roller setup. Maybe your stock lifters will last a long time with your MS4 but we never know what can happen.

When I got my AFR 205's I had them upgrade my lifters to Comp R's Absolutely no issues 5,000 miles and counting later.
