Default How hot does your F body run?

I just bought a 2000 WS6 TA and was wondering how hot it is supposed to run. I thought mine seems to run kinda hot. It will stay just a bit below the 210 mark. In town or on the highway it stays the same.

The stock gauge is a dummy gauge. It will basicly tell you 3 things

1) Cold
2) Operating temp
3) Overheating

If you want to know the real water temp, either get a real gauge or run auto tap on it.

Voted "Most useless gauge" of the century. FWIW, you seem to be operating within the "normal" parameters of most LS1's I'm familiar with.

I have a mechanical gauge I can put in it but where do you install it in the engine at? Is there a plug or something that I can take out?

An easy place to install it is in the back side of the passenger head. Go take a look at your driver side head. In the front on the side is the stock sensor. The sensor is in the same place on the passenger side head but obviously in the back rather than the front. That is where I plugged in for my temp gauge. It's easy to get to and works.

Mine hangs right at 190 after a while of normal (zippy ) driving.

After a run down the track it's a lil higher, I forget what though, atm...but hot..
