Default Is my rear main seal leaking? If so, is this the proper way to install a new one?

Alright, after road racing yesterday I found the back half of my oil pan and the front half of my trans partially soaked with engine oil. Yes it is engine oil, my trans fluid is red, and my clutch fluid is blue, so it is 100% engine oil. I also see oil coming out of the bellhousing- engine weephole which further indicates that it is infact the rear main seal.

So it IS the rear main seal right? Is there any other seals or gaskets back behind the motor where I would be leaking oil like that? Also, when the trans is out and all that is out, what other seals/gaskets should I replace while it's out? Sucks, I JUST swapped my slave after losing my old one, and now I have to drop the trans again!

Also, can I swap my rear main seal without having to remove the rear cover? Or is it 100% neccessary to take off the rear cover? Does anyone have the part number for the rear seal as well? THANKS!

The only other place it could probably leak is from the rear cover, that also has a gasket.

Look around for the leaks, and make sure it's the rear main seal.

I think if you look on sdpc2000.com they should list a part number.

PS- look for cracks just in case.

Here are the part numbers for the 3 parts under question:

LS1/LS6 rear cover main seal = 12585671
LS1 rear main cover = 12572014
LS1 rear cover gasket = 12574293

So if I dont see any leaks on the rear cover gasket or no cracks, and it is the seal, can I do it without having to pop the cover off? Can I use the technique by putting one side of the seal on first and then massaging in the rest of thet seal with a flathead? Thanks

^I did plan on popping that off too, but when my transmission was out when I did the slave, there was a bunch of oil (I thought it was brake fluid since mine was the brownish color as well at the time) all in the bellhousing and whatnot.
