Camshaft Descision
I have a 99 Camaro SS A4 that is bone stock internally. It has a set of jet hot headers, 2.5" true duals, and a slp lid and bellow. I am thinking about buying a cam for it. It has the stock gear, stock torque converter, and a ls1 intake right now. I drive the car 2,000 miles a year. I want a cam that has an impressive sound, and makes A LOT of torque. I don't want to go overkill on a stall converter since I do like to cruise around, but I want something that would compliment a cam nicely. I have no desire to turn a lot of rpms like the trex or ms4 require. I have been thinking along the lines of a F13/TSP Torquer with a 3200-3500 stall. Any other cam recommendations that are out there that I have overlooked and may work better, please let me know. I wouldn't mind going the custom grind route if that is the best way to go. I have been researching for quite some time, but still am unsure exactly which way to go.

i have a 224 cam that i shift at 6k. i dont know what a "lot of rpms" is for you but i think im short shifting at 6k with that cam. If youre gonna go past 6k rpms you may want to think about a tranny rebuild or upgrade..ive heard that 6k is the most rpms you want to turn on the stock tranny. Dont really know if any of this crap helps but is there if it does.

Thanks for the replies guys. What I mean by turning alot of rpms, is that I don't want to go over 6300. I know some people that go the trex route/magic stick route go to or above 7K rpms. I want something that sounds mean, but more importantly, make more power/torque in the mid range. On a side note, I am in the process building a 406 sbc for my 67, and it peaks out at around 5800 and makes a monster amount of torque. I am very familiar with sbc combo's, but ls1 stuff is vague to me. I want a dyno graph similar to my 406 graph. I have attached my engine analyzer version 3.0 graph. This was made with 10:1 CR, stock unported vortec heads, 240/246 hydraulic flat tappet cam, 1.6 roller rockers, super victor, 750 carb, and a 1 3/4" set of headers. I'm not expecting the numbers for my LS1 to be this high, but I do want the curves to be similar.
