Default Loud ticking noise?

Theres a loud ticking noise coming from the engine compartment on the Drivers side, exhaust leak is the first thing I thought of, I checked and there are no leakes on the headers, It actually sounds like a bad lifter to me. Has anyone experienced a bad lifter and is this problem serious?

Even if you can't feel it doesn't mean there isn't an exhaust leak.

Yeah thats true but I didnt see any carbon marks where the headers meet the heads, it could possibly be where the y pipe meets the headers, if so its loud as hell.

Lifter. I am getting my drivers side head taken off this week because I have a BRAND NEW lifter ticking. It could be pushrods or a broken valvespring, you'll find that out as your pulling the valvetrain out to get the head off. Likely though you are looking at a lifter. You will get a wealth of recommendations like running thick weight oil and ignore it to stop driving your car. I can't ignore it, the tick reminds me of a timer on a bomb, which is what it basically is. I am hoping it didn't chew up my cam. How old are your lifters, and does it sound like one or several ticking. Mine is just one and comp cams sent me ONE lifter to replace it.

I dont know how old they are, the guy I bought the car from installed them, I just found out I have some bad rocker arms and the needle bearings fell out of one. That could be my ticking noise. I'm in search for some roller rockers now.

Check all the spark plugs. When I bought mine I had a tick. I come to find out one of the plugs was loose. It was only in there by a couple of threads. Thank god there was no damage.
