Default Where to position rocker on valve before measuring for pushrod length

I'm measuring for correct length pushrods and I just want to double check where the rocker tip should be on the valve. I'm using T&D adjustables and I shimmed the rocker stand to get the rocker on the center of the lash cap. Is that the correct way to get started? Do I need this tool before I do any measuring? http://www.circletrack.com/techartic.../photo_11.html

Default

If the valve is closed you want it on the inner most side of the valve stem. And when your cam is at max lift you want it on the outter most end of the valve stem. You want it in the middle when the cam is at half of its lift.
