Default What are some of the aftermarket parts it would be cool to see installed and tested?

Hi guys, we've obviously been discussing mainstream LSx performance parts for a long time but I know there are other parts out there I don't see discussed as much or tested.... What comes to mind? Here are some things that I think of...

1) Aftermarket oil pans
2) Harrop 8 TB setup (looks so cool)
3) Girdles
4) Dry sump

How about you guys??????????????

aftermarket oil pan would be pointless... dry sump in conjunction with the pan would be cool so see the gains. the harrop would be interesting to know the results, but its kinda way unrealistic for the vast majority of us. i would be more interested in seeing tests that would determine failing points of certain internal motor parts, maybe which sets of aftermarket rockers/lifters have best performance etc etc. maybe the et 245 head with a properly built motor, not just a stock shortblock with those heads ya know...

I was thinking something along the lines of compression and quench vs. power output.

I'd like to see a 1/4 mile test of a steel vs aluminum flywheel so everyone will quite arguing about it.

Radiators, spark plug wires, MSD coils, underdrive pulleys, air filters, air lids, EWP's, just a few things. Mostly to see if there is a power difference between brands, quality differences, etc...

What are your goals John?

Definitely the Harrop is a front runner. Dying to see how much gain it offers over the LS7...with heads that flow like LS7 heads can. We know the LS7 heads are held back by the LS7 intake, so until a better head is built the LS7 heads will never perform to their max.

I'll agree with the quench vs. compression testing. Same heads, cam, headers etc, but one test with factory 0.056" gaskets, then swap them with a set of Cometic 0.040" gaskets, tune if necessary, and see what the difference is.

This could be a big deal if the results were on the order of 10-15 hp for the price of a set of gaskets, but isn't worth the time, money and hassle if it only nets 1-2hp.

I like my dry sump.

How about a "step tube" header system?

"$700 is alot of money for a driveshaft "

It's piece of mind knowing if the DS lets loose and breaks up, it will become a broom and sweep the underneath of your car vs. rattling around breaking ****. That's all the $$$ gets you.
