Default main caps

im told i need some special tool to remove the main caps. some puller and a slide hammer. is this true? what type of puller is it?

They should pull outfairly easily, some may require you pull a bit but nothing you can't do by hand.

you shouldn't need any kind of special tools. i pulled myn out fairly easy.

Wiggling them around should get them off. If not, carefully use a flathead screwdriver to "pry" them off.

I don't suggest the flathead thing because if you slip, you might knick the crank or something, it works though. You could use a rubber mallet and lightly tap each side of the main cap till it wiggles loose if they don't come out easy the 1st time.

Putting the flathead between the block and the main cap in the bay to bay breather passages is pretty safe. Hard to knick anything there.
