Yup spun a bearing...it is pretty badd
ok here we go..
i spun bearing...i always thought a spun bearing was when the bearing just like moves inbetween the rod and teh crank...
i didnt know that one overlaps the other one...wow...that sucks...haha
so i have the engine held up by a 4x4 on the strut towers and the k member is out and i pulled the oil pan and everything and started to remove the rod caps to finally find which one spun...
now here is my question...
what in the hell do i do with that rod?
i know that the crank has to be spun and then oversized bearings but what do i do with that rod and rodcap? do those have to be machined a well?
all of them?
let me know
thanks
Louie

I just spun a bearing too like umm... 3 days ago. To check which one you spun there is an easier way to do it. Take off each spark plug one by one and start it and when it isn't knocking that is the one. Make sure you turn the car off each time you unplug a spark plug.

My dad is the mechanic here but he said we have to pull the motor out and go through the whole thing to make sure everything is right. Yeah prolly have to go to a machine shop I think. I'm sure it would be the best thing to do since you have to go through it anyways and you want to make sure it is right to save you some time and trouble in the long run.

Use ARP Rod bolts to minimize spinning rod bearings. The stock rod bolts allow the rod end to deform which will then cause the bearing shells to dislodge. Of course oil starvation can do the same thing, although usually this will cause multiple failures.
