Default Is re-torquing required on aftermarket head gaskets?

Considering Felpro of Cometic head gaskets in range of .040 to .045. Anyone know if they need to be re-torqued? If so, how many times?

I installed felpro's #1041 gaskets and they began to seep. Called felpro and was told they needed re-torqued TWICE after heat cycling, for a total of 3 torqueings. By comparison, SCE copper gaskets only need retorqued once. I had wrongly assumed the felpro's were permatorque style and didnt need retorqueing at all. Felpro said all their performance gaskets need retorqued this way.

What is Fel-Pros procedure on re-torquing when using LSX type torque to yield stretch bolts? That is the whole point of of stretch bolt is to maintain "clamp". How are you supposed to retorque bolts that are designed to be a "one use" type of application? How do they say to do it and not comprimise the bolts structural integrity? Do they require head studs, that can be repeatably disturbed?

You should be retorquing the ARPs regardless.

Once or twice after initial assembly and once after a heat cycle.

You need to tq the arps 5 times before you even heat cycle the car.

Then once after you heat cycle it.

Be sure to use ARP lube.

Installed my heads on Cometics (copper sprayed) using ARP studs w/oil for lube (not ARP lube). Torqued to the higher value as instructed by ARP when lubing w/oil. Re-torqed after a few heat cycles & none of the studs had changed. All of the studs retained their torque. This is not to say that re-torquing isn't required. I'd say back 'em off once or twice during initial install & re-torque @ least once after heat cycle.

As for GM stretch bolts, I always stretched 'em as instructed & let them be. Don't know that it's possible to re-torque.
