Default Everyone with cammed cars inside PLEASE!!

I have been trying to solve a problem with my 02 ws6 m6 for over a week now. Car has full exhaust, slp ram air/ lid combo, 224/.581 cam 112 lsa and only 20k miles. After checking everything under the sun the only thing I can come up with is the pcm. I now hear a slight noise under the hood and am not sure if it has always been there and I now hear it considering I am listening to everything very carefully. If you guys that have cammed cars could put your ear close to the intake and listen for a slight knock that sounds like the sound everyone makes with their tongue from the roof of their mouth and it is exactly in sequence with the lope of the cam(exhaust). I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT!! Atleast I could rule out a possible major problem. Thanks Guys.

If your wondering the extent of the problem or would possible read the post and give some info, the post in under tuning section. Thanks

it could be normal valve train noise, LS1's with a cam are typically pretty noisy. Do you know what size push rods your running? the base circle of your cam? milled heads?

Don't know the base circle but the pushrod length is 7.400 and the heads are not milled. I know the sewing machine noise that the head puts off but it sounds like this is coming from the center of the top. Not sure if it is on the front of the motor or back because or echo.

Mine has some noise like what you discribed. It sounds like a tapping-knocking noise. I thought that one of my rockers was coming loose and it was bouncing arround inside valve cover. I checked torque on all rockers and they were good. THe only thing i can come up with is that it has something to do with the belt because it goes away after a few min. I could be wrong.

After I replaced the Map sensor but like I said that didn't fix the problem so I started looking and listening elsewhere and then noticed the sound so it could have been there the whole time.

I did not notice mine until after the first day of driving. It has slowly started to last longer before it goes away. It sound like it is coming from the drivers side valve cover or somewhere right in there at the front by the powersteering. I cant figure out what it is

Could be an exhaust manifold leak. Does it increase with rev's? Check the bolts to the head.

I've got a 233/239 and have the same noise b4 and has gotten more noticable sine the cam. I think that my front pass. side lifter isn't holding it's preload and it does go away after I let it idle a few mins. it lasts a little longer on a cold day. Once it's warmed up all I hear is the normal noise of a cammed car!

i assume the cam is the TR224 cam. when i had that cam in my car, the valvetrain was noisier then any other cammed car i've ever heard, when i swapped the cam a few months ago, i found that my noise was coming from the fact that every lobe nose on the cam was "rough" the hardening wasn't right and the nose of every lobe was flaking off for the most part. this in turn chewed up my lifters some. so it had valvetrain noise x100....

as for the "sound that your tongue makes when you smack it off the roof of your mouth" my guess would be the a lifter somewhere. when i swapped my heads and still had my TR224 cam, somewhere in the process a lifter bled down and it made that exact noise. it eventually went away with a few heat cycles though....

now i have a new HUGE cam and some LS7 lifters and all is well
