Default What would causea dyno graph to be wavy????

Aren't they suppose to be nice smooth lines? Just curious cause my dyno graphs are pretty damn wavy!

1. 2.73 gears.
2. Poor spark.
3. Fuel issues.

All depends....they are never perfectly smooth unless they have the software set to level 5 smoothing (assuming they are using winpep). I wouldnt worry about it unless you are talking about 15rwhp waves. Hard to tell unless you scan it in for us to see.

Yep, biggest thing to check is the smoothing setting (like JMX mentioned). If you look at the raw data it is almost always a bit wavy. Most of the perfectly smooth and pretty graphs you see are with smoothing cranked up to 5.

Honest wavy hp output normally is an ignition problem though. With the LS1's ignition I would be suprised to see that.

Okay, so assuming unsmoothed data, what amplitude would be cause for concern?

Wavy is knock retard IMO. Short waves... like bunches of tiny little spikes.

Can too much timing cause a lot of little spikes?

What about valve float? Just a thought. I have heard that LS1's will do that if the springs are worn bad enough.

Valve float the graph will just plummet 50 hp or more in the upper rpm range.
