About to buy some AS 5.3 heads ... is this what I need?
I have a TR224 cam and am looking at this: Absolute speed 5.3 stage 2.5 heads. The numbers are 2.055 and 1.60
Is this going to be a good head to go with? How comparable are they with the PRC's ?
I would like to get up over 400rwhp with all the bolt ons including a FAST 90/90 setup.

AS heads are old so to speak..not around anymore...TEA makes good 5.3 heads in different stages with very good flow numbers...TSP and PP makes good economical performance heads now days too using the 243 castings (LS6\LS2) I would consider one of those before using the AS heads unless you just got a some sort unreal deal for them ...

I had a similar set of AS heads. They were great, and the dyno sheet for them is in my sig. That was my same setup, only the headers were Hedman stepped, and the cam was a 224/224 .581/.581 112 Comp Cam.
Here's the flow numbers for the heads I had:
Flow #'s,
Lift---Intake---Exhaust
.200---144------117
.300---204------157
.400---236------194
.450---277------209
.500---293------218
.550---304------222
.600---306------224
I set out to make 400hp, and made 405. So that was fine. The reason I didn't keep them is that you just can't fit a decent sized cam under them because of the big intake valves. I was below recommended clearance with the 224 cam I had. So more duration would've had PTV contact. I would say if you get them, definitely flycut for the big valves. They'd be great heads on a built motor with -4cc valve reliefs.
