Need Some Help...
Just need some general advice about what package specs to get?
226/226 .585/.585 112LSA
-or-
232/230 .580/.580 110 LSA
59cc or 64cc
1.7 or 1.8 non-adjustable rockers
This package is from PP, looking for best setup for a 98 T/A, A4, 3.90 gears.
I want nice mild idle.
And any one know the typically HP gain from this h/c package?
Thanks

How do you define mild idle? Some might say a 226/226 on 112 LSA has a mild choppy idle. Others would say mild meaning smooth. Neither one of those cams will give you a smooth idle, but the first one won't be bad. The other should be fairly choppy at those durations and on a tighter LSA.
Do you have a stall? How much converter are you willing to live with? Is this a daily driver? What do you hope to gain from a cam swap?
Most people will tell you to put at least a 3400 stall in an otherwise stock car. When you are talking cams with an automatic, you almost have to put a converter in after 220/220. The more overlap you have, the more important a stall becomes.
Chamber size is dependant on what cam you end up with. IIRC, Patriot can make the chambers whatever you want, so settle on the cam first, then figure out how to get your DCR up to 8.5 - 8.7:1.

It depends on what you want out of it. Do you want more top end power and give up some low end power? Or do you want both top and low end power gains? How much $$ are you willing to spend? H/C packages can be tweaked a lot to get you the results you want out of it. Be more specific.

I think this is the patriot h/c package .... a read from a guy here (forgot who) that used both cams and he said he liked the 226/226 better .... better street manners and smoother driving than the 232/230 and said it made good power....if you want a bigger better cam try if they`ll sell you the kit without the cam for a reduced price or sell the cam and buy a bigger cam that suits your needs.

Again this is my set-up... 98 T/A, A4, 3.90 gears, daily driver, stock everything else.
This is a package from a Patriot Performance sponsor, which I am getting a discount thats why I am choosing these specific options.
From what I have read about so far.. lets say I go with the..
226/226 .585/.585 112LSA
Now at a chamber size of 64cc would give me a DCR of 8.48 and with a 59cc would be 9.03. Now I am assuming that the 64cc is in a good range for the DCR?
----
1.So if I went with 226/226 .585/.585 112LSA, 64cc, and 1.8 rockers I would be going the right direction or no?
2.Would this work on stock everything else or would I need a HD oil pump and new timing chain?
3.What other parts are needed for complete install?
4.Will stock covers fit on new heads?
5. Any one know HP gains on this and if I am missing anything please let me know.
