Default Cams - again

What would You suggest for a A4, 4400 stall, 4.10s, full bolt ons and rear suspension, fully built trans. Spring/summer daily driver. Racing on the track only about 20 passes during the spring.

It really depends on how much cam you're wanting to put up with. If you're looking for best performance that will work well with the 4400 and 4.10's, our MS3 would be the way to go! If you're not wanting to go quite that aggressive, our Torquer v.2 camshaft would be a great choice. FYI, the average peak power difference between our MS3 and T2 camshafts is ~10 RWHP. The average HP gain from our MS3 on a full bolt-on car is 60-65 RWHP over the factory LS1 camshaft.

Feel free to PM or e-mail me at trevor@texas-speed.com with any questions. I'll be glad to help you pick the best cam for your needs.

TREX for a track car is my choice.

Or you could spray the MS3

Honestly I like aggressive camshafts. The only thing is I just dont want to kill my motor or trans when I will be driving it everyday during spring and summer. Of course I want that cam to totally match my setup for max performance.

MS3 all the way, I drive my car alot. As a matter of fact I just got back from cruising it about 60 or so miles. And to me the MS3 makes sick power. I love it. Good luck

i vote the si7. it would be very similar to the t-rex, but would pull your powerband/shiftpoints down a hair, keeping you under 7k at least. for a track car i would suggest a 110+0 lsa.

t rex. with a 4400 stall I would think that it may be too much converter for that cam with 4.10's. forget about spraying, 4.10s and a 4400 are crazy your shift extension would be so high. you might as well get a cam that rips like a **** on the motor, get some sticky *** tires and get ready to see blue sky on your launch.

Here's something to think about. I have a '99 Z28 bracket car with a stock bottom-end LS1. It's setup with a Moser 12-bolt with 4.30's, a TCI 'glide with a 5400 stall, and 28" Hoosier slicks. When I first built the engine, I put a 244/248 112 LSA camshaft in the car. I expected the car to be able to make use of the power well considering the setup. Once it was all together, I wasn't really happy with the 60' of the car. I primarily race the car at 1/8-mile tracks. The best the car would 60' was a 1.57 (3,200' actual altitude and a 'glide doesn't help). I decided to pull the cam out and stick in our MS3. The only thing changed was the camshaft. I put it back on the dyno, and peak HP was down 5-6 RWHP, but from 6500 RPM and below I picked up 15 RWHP and 15 RWTQ! I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I took it back to the track, and the 60' times dropped to 1.52 while knocking off a full tenth in the 1/8th! What's the point of all of this? Bigger cams aren't always better. You can make more peak power with less average power or lose peak power to make more usable, average power. Just some food for thought!

Well, considering that they are all basic traditional splits. They should react to N2O really good. It all depends on the size shot you are planning on running. Pick a cam that is going to be for at least 85% on how you plan to run it. If it is track only...then you will probably be sprayin' most of the time you are taking it down the strip. See what I'm sayin? Anything less than a 200 will be dandy on those 3 cams listed.
