228R or TR230/224
Ok so Im ready to order a cam kit for my 98 SS. The car already has full exaust(LT, ORY, CB), LS6 intake, Ported TB, Lid, and an SS3600 stall with HD2 shift kit and trans cooler. This car is my DD from May till October and only sees the track 2 or 3 times a year. Im looking to have a fun street car and it will stay on stock heads for at least this year. I have heard good things about both the 228R cam from TSP and the TR230/224 cam as far as how they work for a DD street car but what would be the pro's and con's to each and which would you go with?

Both camshafts work really well. We typically see about 40rwhp from the 228R camshaft. Another camshaft to consider is the Torquer 2. It's not a lot bigger than the 228R camshaft, but it really makes great power & works well with a little bit of converter.

There is + and - to everything. Trq down low, yes the LTs will make a lttle more as far as high rpm, the Macs actualy fair better. I bought mine 6 years ago and they haven't perished yet. I did the collector and primary weld mod on them, so I would have to dissagree with most of the posters just shooting their mouth. I have a custom y as well (Magnaflow Y) and catback.

I plan on modding the ball flanges and making a custom Y or dual exhaust next though.
