Default GM hot cam tuning???

Ok guys, I've got a 99 A4 car. I'm considering buying the GM hot cam, I'm on a budget, and I like the specs, it sounds like it lobes nice. But what kind of tuning is required to have this cam as my dailey driver??? I have heard you don't need to have tuning done with this cam.... But it is more recomended with an automatic? why is that, because of idle speed? Also, what effects would I have without tuning, like runing rich or anything?

First of all I would suggest going with a different cam, and second tuning is a must ya its kinda expensive but its worth it.

you will need tuning.. untuned with a hotcam, your car will run like ****. yes it will also run very rich. i ran a mail order tune with the hotcam and it still didnt run right.. before the tune, the car wouldnt even idle or start. if it is your DD, then tune that bitch! it does sound mean as hell!! but it will be a bitch to drive if you can get it to run without a tune..

I agree, the hotcam is too aggressive for a dd. (112LSA)

once you get someone to tune it its not bad to daily drive a hotcam car, there are plenty of folks who dd cars with cams alot bigger.

I have a hotcam in my 00 camaro and i can't get it to idle at for **** unless i create a nasty vacuum leak on the intake.
Anyone have a successful tune? I have hp tuners but don't know where to tune to work right.

have to say though the cam is one nasty bugger full blast!

I guess it's different with the auto cars, but I ran a 221/221 .558/.558 112lsa cam in my m6 SS. No tuning, and it ran a bit rich obviously, but it ran like hell on the stock PCM. A little surge, but that's expected.

And just b/c it's got a 112lsa doesn't mean it's not streetable. With a good tune especially it'll be just fine in any conditions.
