Default places to get ls1 heads ported

anyone know of a place close to KC that does port work on ls1 heads?

It's usually worth it to send them out to someone that know's LS1 heads. Unless of course you want to try your hand at it. Give Patriot Performance a call. They'll probably CNC port them for you for as good a price as you'd get locally.

is it even worth it to get them ported? i would think spend a little more cash and get something else

I concur. Getting stock heads ported just isn't worth it. You can get stage 1 LS6s for like $1,000 anymore. You will probably be able to get 100-200 out of the stock heads, and then you are only about 100-200 off of the ls6 head. You will be regretting it down the road if you go with the ported stockers.

What exactly makes the LS6 head so special? Wouldn't it have the same type of casting as a LS1 head, only milled a little more with a small difference in port size??
Looks to me like you could take a 241 head, have it milled to achieve 10:5.1 CR and do some mild port work to get the same results. Doesn't the LS6 have the same size valves too?
