Bad 3 to 2 shift, what's my damage?
I banged 2nd while trying to hit 4th quick...I realized it very quickly and threw the clutch in instantaneously...
Well, I guess it wasn't quick enough as I got the wheel hop and soon after a nice SES light
I babied the car home and haven't really checked on it yet...
I'm figuring a bent rod?
I'm new to the M6's (had an A4 previously)
I may just order a set of Comp rods and then pull the covers and check all my rods and replace them.
Figure I'll be doing them sooner or later when I do a H/C set-up (or whatever) so why not use this as excuse to do them now?
What else could I have damaged?

The solution, change the way you shift. Instead of pulling the handle with your palm toward you (like the 1-2 shift), flip your hand and grasp the shifter with your palm facing the passenger side (thumb and fore-finger below the other fingers on the handle). It is not a natural movement to pull the handle towards the 2nd gear gate in this manner.
For another "ask me how I know" check your transmission mount. It happened to me one of the first times I got a highway race in my car, and the loud bang I heard was the tranny mount tearing away and allowing the tranny and torque arm to hit the floor. Fortunatley for me, that's easier to fix than even pushrods.
Good luck - hope you get a simple fix too!
Funny, because I normally do that
But, I was just being stupid and forgot
My rear should be fine as I'm rockin' a Moser 2 back there
I'm hoping just a rod or two, I should go get it scanned but was told I shouldn't really drive it just incase I've bent a valve...what do you guys think?

I did this in my GTO twice now once on the track, once racing a vette (had him too until that happened).....I'm replacing heads/cam/pushrods/more.....
the car still runs fine at the moment, I'll just feel better knowing everything valvetrain wise has been replaced....and....I um,.....want to go faster anyways
Also, I figure I'll just order a new set of rods and throw them in...I'll have to do them sooner or later (h/c?) so why not use this as an excuse to do them now?
