Good luck with your choice.

I am very happy with the choice that I made. I was able to do the tuning myself and the car starts/idles/drives like stock, until you nail the go pedal. Very mild but good performing cam.

Get alot of raised eyebrows when they see the RWHP numbers.

Hey guys, this is a great thread and I'm glad I've taken some time to read through it.
Based on the info I gave in this thread about what I want:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...95#post7389495
Would something like a 228 or 230 be good for me?
I pretty much want a good daily driver and can tolerate some lope. I'll eventually do some patriot stg II or III 5.3 heads to complete the combo. From what it sounds like, an ls6 intake should be pretty sufficient for what I want.
I was looking at a 224 because it seems to run VERY strongly but I figured since I have 4.10s I can get away with the slightly bigger size. I also like the idea of moving the power band up ever so slightly and introducing a little "bog" so to speak because it'll help me hook my drag radials a bit better.
I was originally caught in the trap of wanting something larger even though I've owned this car for quite some time and got to see the smaller cams perform, but after seeing a lot of the discussion here it's jogged my memory and steered me back to reality .
Thanks!

I couldn't be happier with my Hot Cam 219/228 .525/.525 112lsa, I installed it a little over two weeks ago. It idles well sounds good and even better with the cut out open, normal driving is good, it feels very nice running at freeway speeds and the mpg change is minimal maybe 1 mpg loss. I chose the Hot Cam because I have to DD the car 5 days a week(half of which is idling in traffic), and will have plenty of poetntial as I slowly add more mods. I have got on it a few times and I can tell it has woken up, I have been taking it easy till my tune in a few weeks. After the tune I will post new et's and dyno results.

We just fitted a 206 212 112 to an Australian Adventra which is like a 4WD 4 door wagon version of a GTO. It was fantastic - straight away getting 28mpg at cruise at 60mph. Its been fitted with PRC double springs and believe me its happy to rev and go well for a 4400lb car.

All this is for LS1. I know the LS6 is not much different, but it does have better heads, so what would be a good cam for my car? It's stock except for x-pipe, !cats, blackwing. I'm wanting to do 90/90, cam kit, headers. I just want good under the curve tq and i want it to lope real good.

I run in the 11.7X range (A4 and full weight fully optioned pork) with my stg2 heads and 230/230 .578/.578 cam! At the time I purchased this combo for my car, (2001) it was considered on the bigger side... now... its almost a baby cam... but I run 11s all day long NA.
Now I got my G5X3 sitting in my garage.. but have to change pistons to gain clearance for the valves.....

With a stock headed motor in an 2000 Trans am, A4 (3000-3200 TCI SF), 3.42 gears, LS6 intake, air lid, LT headers and a Lunati 221/221@.050 cam the car has been 12.22 with a 1.72-60-ft time and still tuning. I also weigh 300-lbs. On a 200 shot it has run 10.79@126.9 shifting at 5700-RPM with a 1.62 60-ft. time. I will be installing a set of ported 5.3 heads sometime next week.

This is a great thread, until the end of pg 7 then all hell broke loose and the cam pissing match was on. This is a DAILY DRIVEABILITY thread not PEAK NUMBERS thread. This thread confirmed my decision on my H/C combo. I will start off with the MTI X1 and pulley in Aug. Then a set of heads in the near future.
