Default Couple of heads/cam questions for you gurus?

Ok guys, I currently have an 01' zo6 with the usual bolt ons already. intake, long tubes, exhaust, tune. I am looking into doing a heads/cam swap soon and had a few questions.

I will probably be going with the MS4 and the texas speed ls6 ported heads. and underdrive pulley. Now on to the questions, as I plan to do this swap myself

1)Will I have to flycut?
2)Will it require new rockers, and if so, which is least expensive and good?
3)Will it require new lifters, and if so, " "?
4)Cam timing, please explain this one to me and if it should be dot to dot or advanced on this setup?
5)Any other misc. things you guys can come up with that I should be prepared for during the swap? I am pretty good at figuring stuff out and building stuff together, I just want your guys advice since I know many of you have already done these types of swaps.
6)And, finally, how much power should i expect with this setup? I would like at least 480. Is that reasonable?

If you're wanting to make 480 rwhp or more, you're looking at the right cam, but you'll need to address a few more issues.

You'll need a ported FAST 90 with 90 mm TB.
You'll need static compression of 11.5:1.
You'll want a thin .040" head gasket.
You'll definitely need to flycut your pistons.
You could benefit from an electric water pump.
You'll want a seriously good drivability tune if you daily drive this car.

not exactly what i wanted to hear about flycutting. Maybe i will settle for 470-475 for now. I dont want to budget in the fast 90/90 setup just yet as i cannot justify paying 2k right now for a port and polished set. So is this flycutting your opinion or fact from texas speed. I see they offer the heads/cam kit for roughly 2k with the ms4 stick. I figured, I was going to end up buying their stage 1 ls6 heads, ms4 cam, their gasket set, ported oil pump, timing chain, and underdrive pulley.

Can anybody tell me if i will need to get rockers and lifters or can i use the stock stuff?

If PatrickG said you'll need to flycut, you can pretty much bet on it. He knows his stuff for sure...

RE: rockers/lifters...if you're willing to try for 475rwhp or more, yes I'd opt to spend the extra cash for the good rockers and lifters. Harland Sharpe, the new Yella Terra's or the rebuilt stockers from Nasty Performance would all be good options in terms of rockers.

For lifters I'd consider the Comp 850s or the Caddy racing lifters...either should be able to accomplish what you're looking for.

Good luck!
