Default Stock LS1, 39k miles, SES light and misfire at 4,000RPMs

The car behaves normally (with the exception of a SES light) until 4k rpm's. Assuming it was an emmissions thing like a bad O2 sensor, I was ignoring the SES light until Sunday when I was planning to meet up with a friend who has a OBDII scanner. Tonight, I got on it and at 4,000, I hear a rattle and the SES starts flashing.

So should I be parking this until I get to a service tech next week, or am I okay to drive? Any ideas on what it would be? The car's not been drag raced, but it does get autocrossed frequently.

A flashing light means you have a misfire.....have your buddy pull the codes and see what the computer says, my guess would be the front 02's so I would start by replacing those and go from there.....

a flashing SES light means damage is being done to the cats, it could be cuased by a misfire or fuel problem like an injectore staying open, something along those lines.

i'd do a seafoam to just get the idea of having carbon deposits creating misfires, it's cheap and your engine probably has never been seafoam'd probably. just a idea to try

Flashing SES is related to combustion problems (misfire, ect.)
Steady SES is emmissions relation (not important? lol).

I would take the valve covers off, check the pushrods. Also make sure you are running 93 oct. Pull a plug and see what it looks like, may be fouled out or whatnot. See what cylinder has it, maybe be a coil pack.

Get THE CODE and that will give you a great place to start.

Have you done anything to the car? When did the SES light come on - was anything different when it started?

Okay, I have a P1416 code - Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System malfunction... so I guess I have more forum searching to do.

Would that lead to the misfire?
