Default Thinking about a bigger cam

I have a Comp 232/236 595/601 112 +4 XER lobe. I really like this cam, but I am thinking about getting a bigger cam. I have Patriot CNC ported 243 castings along with Patriot Gold springs. I am spraying a little nitrous now, but I am not going to spray over 150 on it. The car has a 3500 stall in it right now. I made 403 with the cam I have right now(cam only). I don't want to deal with fly cutting the pistons and I am going to take the heads off this winter to have them hand ported and have the bigger valves put in. I am running stock valves right now.

What would you do..........stay with the cam I have now or go bigger. If I went bigger I would like to have a cam that made good low end torque. I don't want a cam that just makes good power at high rpm's.

What cam would you recomend if I wanted to go bigger??

Thanks

Just thinking about it.............The bigger valves and the hand porting job this winter should pick me up a little more.

Stay with that cam. Even with my cam cars with smaller can keep up just as well. Its not worth it. Sounds like you have a great setup now, dont ruin it for 10 extra horses at 6800rpm.

i swapped from a tsp 231/237 cam and patriot 5.3l heads to an ms4 cam custom ground on a 110+4lsa and fast 90/90 with the same heads and picked up 60rwhp. Went from 410rwhp on a mustang dyno to 468rwhp. I havent been on a dynojet with the new combo but when i made 410 on the mustang i did 443 on a dynojet.

The thing is too i gained everywhere averaging 20-30 hp and torque from about 2500rpms up to 60hp and at 6600rpms. here is a link to the graph of just my gains from the swap.

and a link to the one graph laid over the other

Do you have stock valves? I am just worried about PVC with a cam like the MS4. That is the cam that I was thinking about swapping to.

My cam was a pain until I got some of the tuning issues worked out. What are the specs on the G5X3?

The driving characteristics of my ms4 on a 110lsa are just as good as the driving characteristics of my 231/237 cam i had on a 112lsa. I also have patriot 5.3l heads with 2.02 and 1.57 valves but the cam clears on my car since i have diamond forged pistons with -2cc valve reliefs

I don't really want to have to fly cut the pistons, but when I put the bigger valves in it then I won't have a choice.
