2000 Trans Am problems. So heres whats going wrong....
Backfiring when im acelerating and decelerating smoke shooting out and engine over heats very fast.(just ordered thermostat)
So when I'm going at full throttle the car doesnt acelerate between 3k-5k rpms around somewhere it like just holds back then backfires and kicks in again.
And when im decelrating it just backfires when i down shift.
Any ideas of whats wrong I've checked MAF sensor,spark plugs, coil packs rockers and looked for bent push rods but those are all fine.
The mods to the car a magnaflow catback exhaust headers and a intake lid.

The car is stock so it should not need a tune. Smoke and overheating could be a head gasket.
What color is the smoke (black, white, or blueish-white)? Is there any oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil (oil on dipstick is foamy and lighter brown)?
