Default New cam...any cleaning needed prior to install?...

Guys,

Do I have to do anyting to a new cam before installation?....Like clean it or anything?...

Usually they are shipped inside a plastic bag. I normally pull the cam and wipe it down with lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol and then liberally oil the cam before install. You can probably just oil and install but why not go the extra mile and clean of all impurities just in case.

clean the center too. they are hollow and full of crap sometimes.

clean it inside and out with brake cleaner. be sure to cover up any cuts u might have on your hands or arms cuz the **** burns after cleaning it, rub it down inside and out with some regular motor oil just before putting it in the engine.

240/244 114 LSA installing on 110 ICL....I haven't degree'd it yet so i think i'll take it back out and clean it inside and out as advised....my original cam was supposed to be degree'd +2...but the crank shft sprkt said +4 when I removed it ......hmm....
