TR230 M6 around town
So what is a 230 like around town in an M6? How's 6th at about 1500 rpm? What kind of gas mileage can you get?
I having a big debate with myself between the 230 and the 224. I'm leaning to the 230 but am wondering if its just a bit much for the street.

Do you want the bigger cam for the extra power? for the extra lope? or for better time at the strip?
Take a look around and see who was running what size cam when they went as fast as you want to go someday.
I would recommend the smaller of the two.
Goodluck.

Re: TR230 M6 around town
Thanks for the info guys, The car is real light, about 2200 to 2400 lbs. So maybe less torque at lower RPM is a good thing. I'm not sure. I like the dyno graph that Thunder put up on the 224, but I like the sound of the 230. The car is not yet finished, but it's cam time if I'm going to do it so I'll make a decision soon. I am just worried that the 230 might try to surge a little in 6th gear and force me to run in 5th. If that's not an issue I'll run the 230 and titanum retainers. The car also has LT's Y and bullets turned down before the axle, LS6 intake, custom intake filter setup, stock MAF, stock LS1 heads trimmed down .008 and a 5 angle valve job. Rear is a ford 8.8 traction lock with 3.73 gears.
You should see the drive shaft on this thing, it's all of 17" long!

I am running the ASA cam. It also has a 110 LSA. I have stock 3.43 gears and in 6th I do get a little idle surging from 60 to 70 mph.The cam does not like anything under 2000 rpm. I plan on putting in 4.10's to solve that problem. But it is not to bad.

The car is a Classic Roadsters Sebring MX. I thought about a Cobra, but really like the old Austin Healey 3000 that the MX is modeled after.

just don't do an aluminum flywheel and you'll be fine.
Just wondering why beeing away from Alum. flywheel is better ?? Just want to know because I have one and want to be sure that everything is OK
Thanks

I am in the process of changing the Hot Rod to a A3. She has been a M6. I did not have any surge at all in 6th gear. She might of surged in 1st a little bit. The 230 cam is a great cam. Lots of HP and great to drive around town for me.
