Default LPE LS1 heads milled .055

Looking at a set of Lingenfelter heads that are milled .055. Was wondering what kind of issues I could have with these. I wanted more compression, something around 11:1 so I can run 93 octane. Also any fitment issues with the manifold with it being milled, and could I counter that with a little thicker gaskets. And anything else that might come up.

The cam that it will be matched to wold be the LPE GT2-3 with the only other mod being a lpe intake that is on my car now.

Thanks,
Mike

There was an old post a few years back where someone, a shop I think, said that the mid .050's is where they started having manifold fitment problems. That includes thinner gaskets as well as milled heads and/or block.

It's a long story, but my 5.3l heads were milled .040, I switched to Cometic .040 gaskets (another .014 off OEM), and I also had to deck the block .020 (wrong piston/rod combo). So that's .074. I had to use new gaskets and remove the manifold guide holes which sit in the heads to make my intake seal.

I shimmed the rockers .020 to try to get a good wipe pattern and ended up using 7.4 pushrods.
