Default 15W-50

Should I use it in my 99 Trans AM? I did on my last oil change and it is due for one this week, before my next AutoX competition....What do you guys use? I am in Florida by the way, so it is f'in hot and humid all the time.

I have been runnin it for about a year now and no problems. Oil pressure is up there tho.

It's too thick, you're robbing yourself of about 5-10hp with no benefits whatsoever. Don't go any higher than 10w40 in these motors.

I only use castrol gtx 20-50! in all of my race engines and daily driven vehicles!

Some of us do 4 quarts 10w30, 2 quarts 15w50 to get the desired 10w40.

I'm using 10W40 but I am thinking of going to 20W50 for the hot season.

I just bought 6 quarts of Mobil 1 10w30 today. Cost me about 30 bucks and bought a Pure 1 filter to go with it. Previously I had 5w30 in it, but since the summers up here can get to about 100 or higher, I switched. I saw the 15w40 there but I think the 10w30 will do fine.

It depends on if the clearances in the engine were bigger. IIRC, Tony used to just run 10w30 in that engine.
