Question Head/Cam supporting parts question... (NOOB HERE!!)

I have decided that over the course of winter I am going to do a complete overhaul of my drivetrain (except rear-end for now). I have a few questions as to what other parts I will need when doing a full install/overhaul.

Here is what I will be purchasing:

1. ETP 215cc Heads
2. Custom grind Comp Cam
3. FLT Level 5 4L60E

Here is what I have:

1. Yank SS3600 Stall
2. B&M 24,000 GVW Supercooler

I am keeping the stock bottom end, but I want to replace whatever I can to help improve longevity. I have an idea of what to buy, but I want to make sure if these things are worth while and if I need anything else...

3. Ported oil pump
4. Hardened pushrods
5. Different springs
6. Different lifters
7. Different retainers
8. Underdrive pulley
9. Different serpentine belt
10. Rod bolts

What else would I need? Also, if you could specify what type/Brand of the above I should use that would be great!!

Thanks everyone for your help, and I apologize for my noobishness...

-James

Well, if they are assembled...what wouldn't I need out of the list above?

I think you should get a nice set of pushrods Im running comp cams pushrods, a nice set of rocker arms, underdrive pulley with new belts and I do say belts if you still have your a/c. a nice double roller timing chain set, I went with the slp double roller, lifters Im using ls7 lifters, and of course all of your gaskets. I also put in a new thermostat. that should have you covered.

besides those parts which look to be all pretty good (i went ahead and did headers while i was at my heads/cam/intake swap) ill list some parts that will help you if you are planning on doing it yourself..if your not you could prolly disregard this lol:
-a set of "gear" wrenches..those are at autozone.
-fuel line disconnect tool
-quality breaker bar/pipe
-longer ARP crank bolt, u can get it at thunder racing (this really helps when you go to get your harmonic balancer back on...you can just sit the balancer on and then use ur bolt to wratchet it on there good). if you get this ARP bolt, you will need to get a 27mm socket. i also discovered if you break your oil pressure sensor off while removing the intake, this socket will work to remove it instead of buying the "oil pressure sensor socket"
-rent a 3 arm pulley puller from Autozone, they are the only ones that have it and it ends up being free.

if i think of nething else, ill let you know.

I would hope that this is assumed... But you will definitely want to get your car re-tuned. It wouldn't hurt to get a stronger timing chain either..

Good luck on your install. Im not sure what numbers you can pull off, automatics do rob alot more power. I hope you can get there too.

A good converter because the stock one will not be sufficient.

You didn't list it, so I wasn't sure. Good choice though

These are not bottom end parts. They should come with your heads already assembled except for the pushrods and lifters. Rods bolts are about all you can do to the stock bottm end to make it more durable

if your going to rip thing apart, replace you sensors while you're in there. if your knock sensors are rusty looking and dirty like every stock on i've ever seen over 20k miles then they're probably just arbitrarily pulling a few degrees you don't even know about. crank and cam sensors also tend to give people a lot of troube so you might want to replace those while you're in there...oil pressure, water temp...you know where i'm going with this

...

but def crank and knock sensors.

Thanks for the info! I am still researching what exactly I would like to go with. For the price, AFR's and ETP's are neck and neck for me. The only reason I am leaning toward ETP is because I live by them and my friends have had great success with their products.

Do you know what kind of springs, and retainers come on ETP 215's??
