Default ls1 short block build ?'s (need help)

im building a new short block out of my 01 ls1 block I want to keep it on a low budget but want to make 500rwhp all motor. I only want to hone the block and use a steel crankshaft - also keep it shifting at 7000rpms like before. Before I cracked 2 pistons I was running an ASA cam with headers and tuning and made 400rwhp so with a good piston, rod, and steel crank - along with a high lift cam and ported heads I beleive I could reach this goal. I have a few questions?
*who has a good blueprint that has done this combo?
*who makes a good steel stock replacement crank?
*is 12.5 comp ratio to high for an ls1?

Default Re: ls1 short block build ?'s (need help)

noone has made 500 rwhp on stock displacement (346 ci) N/A yet....

Seems like it uniformly takes 4XX ci and a decent (R1 or bigger) cam. I could be wrong, but I've only seen one or two 3XX ci motors (393 I think) make 500+ rwhp. But a 387 all bore wiht a solid roller setup might make it.

Its a tall order, especially with the LSx intakes.
