Default My friend is having some trouble with his firebird

Sorry if this isn't in the right section but I hope you guys can help.My friend has a late 90's V6 firebird. When he accelerates, sometimes it doesn't go past 30 mph and he hears a grinding/scratching type noise coming from the engine area.He also said that that the engine has died a few times.Anyone know whats up?

dunno about grinding, but the other symptoms sounds like fuel pump / filter.

I just asked him and he says he doesn't know exactly. The times that it happens, it takes the car a very long time to reach 30 mph and doesn't exceed that speed.

i had a 95 v6 firebird and had a bad cat in it at about 95k miles... the thing lugged like crazy and had no power what so ever... wouldn't even shift gears because of the lack of power... seemed to happen the most after a long day of driving and everything was heated up...

as far as the grinding goes i have no idea...
