Default What would be the cause of this !!

Well, I have had my LS6 Motor in my 240 for over year and half now but during my last practice run couple of weeks ago, at the end of the run after 15 or so donuts as soon as I took my foot off the gas, the car went into hydro-lock and white smoke was coming out for good 5 min or so. While I was getting the old motor apart this is what I found, so what you guys think would cause this?? The motor was bone stock LS6 with 30k on it!! I have no idea, but I really like to get others opinion on this.

By the way, that is my new long block which will go in the car as soon as my MTI goodies show up!!

I hate to state the obvious but you blew it up doing donuts.

Well, I knew that much, but that was not the first time the car was under load like that. The only thing I can't remember and I didn't keep my eyes on it at that time was my water temp so head gasket was my first guess. But the other thing I was thinking if my oil pump failed or something.

High rpm's with little load on the motor is a bad thing. That is what usually happens some of the time when doing donuts. It will take it for a while but it's much harder on it (IMO) than wide open passes.

If its stock oiling system with no accusump I've got money on uncovering the oil pickup while doing donuts. I think mikespeed had the same issue when he put his ls1 into his s13. Asmodeus, please show me the broken rod bolt, if you look closely at the picture of that mangled up big end of the rod you can clearly see both bolts are still in there.

BTW, is this the same JDM Palace that used to have the white scion that came to an unfortunate end? I used to be on VIPstylecars until I sold the lexus and got a GTO.

+1 on the 2nd picture.. the rod bolts and cap appear to be in place..what does the cyl look like ? my bet would be as Drew04GTO... lack of oil caused the piston to explode !

You're right, I didn't notice that. The fragmented pieces are piston, not cap and rod.

Thanks for respond guys !! I will post more picture as soon as I take the heads off this weekend, I do have accusump setup on the car but I'm not sure if the location (before the oil filter remote) is the best place for it.

Drew04GTO; Yes, That's me! That's cool you remember !! I got another Scion couple of months ago to build another one, and I got the 240 and my LS430 now.
