Default Low battery voltage @ high RPMs

I have noticed that when my engine revs past 4500 rpm, the "check gauges" light comes on and the battery voltage drops from 14 or so to like 8 or 9. What thoughts have you?

have the alternator tested or maybe belt slippage?

Its rare but I've seen it a few times. The alternator is bad. On rare occasions the alternator will actually decrease in voltage when the rpms rise versus the normal increase. Our alternators have a built in regulator so just buy a new alternator and you will be fine.
